Description:

The KLH Building Voltage Regulation Project at Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, BC, will involve the supply, installation, verification, and operational commissioning of a voltage regulation system. This project will encompass all required equipment at the electrical service entrance to enable active voltage control, providing a regulated supply voltage and thereby enhancing the energy efficiency of the facility's equipment.

One feature of the Equipment (‘regulator’) would serve to balance the load evenly over the 3 Phases thereby overloading of 1 single Phase can be avoided. The system will serve to improve phase balance to further improve electrical efficiency and increase the lifetime of electrical insulation and devices. The voltage regulation would also serve to potentially eliminate some of the transient voltage sags and swells that have been experienced on this site. Delivery shall also include equipment to measure, monitor and verify the performance of the new system.

The successful proponent shall verify the electricity savings and that the proposed design will meet the intent of the energy study.

The successful proponent shall also verify the installed system’s performance, based on metered data, as part of commissioning.

The Services are expected to commence by December 2024 with construction estimated to complete by June 2025.

The Project Delivery method of this Project will be Design-Build (CCDC 14).

The Construction Budget will be determined as the design evolves.
