PROJECT INFORMATION

1. Project Description:
The scope of this project is to increase the size of seven (7) patient washrooms at Nicola Valley Hospital and Health Centre to allow for safer access by patients and staff. The current washrooms do not provide sufficient room to allow for patient lifts or for staff to assist patients inside the washrooms.

2. Scope of Work:

Phase 1 includes renovating 3 patient washrooms, and Phase 2 includes renovating 4 patient washrooms. All washrooms are located in existing acute care patient rooms.

The renovations will make the bathrooms larger to improve accessibility and safety and will include new fixtures and equipment as needed. All work will take place in the hospital’s acute care area and must follow strict infection control measures, including Level III (PMA 3C) containment and all IPAC requirements.

Phase 1 will be completed in 3 steps (1A, 1B, 1C). Each step must be fully finished before the next begins. 

Phase 2 will be completed in 4 steps (2A, 2B, 2C, 2D). Phase 2 can only begin after Phase 1 is complete, and each step must be finished before moving to the next.

*IMPORTANT NOTE*

• Because of limited room availability, only one patient room can be worked on at a time. 
• Each room must be fully completed, inspected, and ready for patient use before work begins in the next room.
• Services such as water, drainage, and electricity must also be carefully staged so that all other rooms remain fully operational during construction.
   

2. The estimated construction budget for the Project is: 

Phase 1 (6225007) - $430,000.00.  

Phase 2 (6226007) - $540,000.00

3. Substantial Completion date: Contractor to state number of weeks in consideration of the steps involved above.
