Description: 

The renovation area in the Elkford Health Centre for the UPCC is approximately 60 m². Capital improvements to the existing building and equipment will focus primarily on the former Emergency Department area and includes:

  1. Add one exam bay (triage) in the former Emergency Department holding bay area.  Data drop and backing to be added for a wall mounted computer. Cables to be pulled to data rack in record storage room. Equipment limited to provider stool and visitor chair.
  2. Existing exam room: Add new data drop and backing for wall mounted computer. Cables to be pulled to data rack in Records Storage room. Data cables to be pulled to Telecom Room. Equipment limited to provider stool and visitor chair. Existing sink and millwork to remain.
  3. Existing treatment room: Add new data drop and backing for wall mounted computer. Cables to be pulled to data rack in Records Storage room. Data cables to be pulled to Telecom Room. Addition of a hand hygiene sink if room allows.
  4. Existing Soiled Utility Room: West opening to be closed off. New door to be added on the east door, with no control nor automatic access system. Add Hand Hygiene Sink if room allows and an eye wash station. Equipment reduced to stainless steel cart (no Clinitek, fridge or macerator). Unless budget allows, existing ceiling, utility sink and millwork to remain.
  5. Existing Nurse Station: Increase safety and privacy with addition of pony walls with a door on both sides. Addition of mirrors on ceiling.
  6. Existing Bathroom: remove toilet. Add deluge shower, if required. Existing sink to be used as hand hygiene sink for providers. Door to be removed to facilitate access.
  7. Existing accessible W/C – replace wooden pass through by a stainless-steel window.
  8. Existing Telecom Room: Add new 4” conduit to connect new drops from treatment/exam and assessment room to data rack.  Add new 48 port patch panel.

If budget allows, the following elements will be considered:

  • Removal and replacement of sink and millwork in the soiled utility room
  • Virtual Care equipment and/or other clinical equipment
  • Addition of an automatic door opener to the soiled utility room

PROJECT CONSTRUCTION BUDGET

The Construction Budget is estimated at $507,000.00 (Order of Magnitude).
